Don't forget that the Ethernet device gets configured when DECnet
is started, not before. It's ESA0 on a VS2000...your MV2000 should
be the same.
Also, on the back of the system box, above the power cable, is a
black switch with two positions: A and B. Put the switch in the A
position if you want to use the ThinWire (BNC) connector, use the B
position if you're hooking to a transceiver connector.

Here's "Table 2-2: Power-up and Self-Test Display Identifiers" from
my VS2000 hardware book:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test Identifier Device
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
F Base Video
E System Clock
D Nonvolitile Random Access Memory (RAM)
C Serial Line Controller
B Memory
A Memory-management Unit
9 Floating Point Unit
8 Interval Timer
7 Disk Controller
6 Tape Controller
5 Interrupt Controller and Ethernet ID ROM
4 Optional 4-plane or 8-plane Graphics Coprocessor
3 Reserved for later use
2 Reserved for later use
1 Ethernet Network Interconnect Module
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Typical power-up error messages are:
1. Clock not set
? E 0040 0000.0005
2. Low battery
? D 0050 0000.0005
3. Monochrome monitor with 4-plane or 8-plane graphics coprocessor
? 4 00D0 0009.0213
4. No Ethernet cable
?? 1 00C0 0000.7004
The table of mnemonics for Test 50 is:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mnemonics Device
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
CLK System Clock
4PLN 4-plane Graphics Coprocessor
8PLN 8-plane Graphics Coprocessor
DZ Serial Line Controller
FP Floating Point
HDC Disk Controller
IT Interval Timer
MEM Memory
MM Memory Mannagement
MONO Monochrome Video Circuits on System Module
NI Network Interconnect Option Module
NVR Nonvolitile RAM
SYS Interrupt Controller and Ethernet ID ROM
TPC Tape Controller
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Under the Test 0 (System Exerciser) description, which claims to take
11 minutes to complete, the manual states:
Single question markls <in the output display> provide status
information and do not interfere with the operation of the
system.
Double question marks indicate errors. Note the mnemonic asso-
ciated with the question mark...
