> A vendor's customers don't care about lack of resources. They can > ----------------------------------------------------------------- > buy from someone who doesn't have that problem. > ----------------------------------------------- Do you know a company in the world which develops everything the same day ??? Everyone puts priorities ... and it is not a question of lack of resources, it is a question of business practices. If you don't understand why x send such a mail, it is not a reason to make it a generality, and to build a all story about DEC's commitment to Unix. >Market analysts get paid big bux (probably much more than the folks >from DEC who read news in their spare time at 2:00am) to know what customers >want. A vendor that knows what customers want and is able to *anticipate* >those needs is what is called "in touch with the market." I totally agree with you ... and this is why we are the first to come with OSF/1 ! Isn't it ? >A vendor that is >constantly in a reactive mode because of lack of resources, where the >vendor's top technical staff (who often are in touch with the market) are >forced to beg for ammunition to help fight internal battles is "out of touch" >and often "out of luck" because by the time those battles are fought, >your competitor has stolen a march on you. Internal battles ! This is such a old story. .. It is my day-to-day job to convince people we are really commited by showing the lastest products we have in the Unix system management. If these products cannot change your perception about DEC's commitment to Unix, you will remain blind to what happen at DEC.
