How much CPU to maintain telnet?

Hello

Anyone have some idea of what kind of resources (how much) would be involved in
maintaining a remote session from a VAX?

For example, I telnet from my VAX at work to the local Universities Vax about
3 miles away to read news (not available on the work machine). I suspect the
only resource being used here is a very small amount of CPU time. Can anyone
tell me roughly how much? I suppose a sysadmin could make a similiar
connection and monitor the process to see exactly how much, right? I would be
very intrested in knowing, and also, it would be nice to have something to
compare the number to, eg maybe its comparable to an editing session?

Thanks for any help.
