non-DEC disks on VAXstation-3100 SCSI port?

Has anyone connected a non-DEC disk to the SCSI port of a VAXstation-3100 yet?
We have one on order, and I am hoping to attach a high-performance (sub-20ms)
drive to the SCSI port, but haven't heard of anyone trying it yet.
