MIT-Athena did a port to AIX 1.2 on the PS/2, which includes DOS support
(Locus DOS Merge). Deployment plans were cancelled very late in the
process. Part of the reason for the port was potential customers who
wanted to run DOS programs. There was talk about setting up a 486 as a
server to allow users to run DOS programs while sitting in front of
non-386 workstations.
I think IBM makes pcsim on the RS/6000 available at low cost to educational
institutions.
