It was an early attempt at workstation-style graphics on a VAX. It's an external graphics processor in a package shaped like the Pro console on the 85xx VAXen, although the guts are very different. It was supported by a driver under late V4 releases of VMS. The driver didn't get converted to V5, although I think the sources got handed to the DECUS Library. Unlike the VAX-based VAXstations, the VS100 box isn't useful by itself.
