Of the choices No version of Solaris 2.x will run on a Sun3 machine. The latest version to run on Sun3 hardware is SunOS 4.1.1_U1. : I think I'd stay with SunOS. There's always NetBSD which is much newer and probably much better than older versions of SunOS. I did run NetBSD on my 4/110 for a while and it worked great. : VMS was a dog on the VAX-3100. I have some Linux on Intel machines : that are making the Sun4c's look doggy. You might want to consider : dumping all the old hardware and just get up to date. Agreed. For people considering these old Suns as their primary machines, I'd definitely recommend Intel based hardware simply for the performance boost. I run a P120 system as well as a SPARCstation IPC. I don't think I could live with only the IPC (it's a tad slow by today's standards :-) : Just my opinion, Likewise.
