How to config /etc/sliphosts for SLIP?

I am trying to install SLIP at DEC 3100 running Ultrix 4.2a.

I had  re-bulit the kernel as the /etc/sliphosts said but I got the
following warning:

# /etc/config SLIP
Warning this device is not supported by DIGITAL if_sl.o
Warning this device is not supported by DIGITAL slcompress.o
Warning this device is not supported by DIGITAL if_sl_data.o
Don't forget to run "make depend"

Did anyone get this message too?

I also get confused with entries in /etc/sliphosts. What is the Slave
and Master for? And what is the logininfo field?
