	Q1. Who really makes them?

	    Olivetti. The DECjet 1000 is Olivetti's JP150.
                       The DECjet 2000 is Olivetti's JP360.

Q2. How do they compare to a DESKjet 500?

H-P does not have a product that competes against the DECjet 1000.
The DESKjet 500 is better positioned against the DECjet 2000.

BTW the DECjet was part of a PC Magazie (August edition) review
of portable printers. We're quite pleased with our showing in
	this review.

	DEC Advantages:(our perception)/(DECjet 2000 vs. H-P DESKjet 500)

. High Speed Draft on the DECjet 2000
. Optional sheet feeder and tractor feeder on the DECjet 2000
. No OFF board Power supply
	. Easier envelope feed
	. Better paper path
. More powerful control panel on the DECjet 2000 - can access all
	  internal fonts.
	. Better setup switches
	. UNIX international character set

			H-P DESKjet 500 DECjet 2000

	Speed 120/240 120/240/360
Sheet feeder	100 sheets 150 sheets
	Opt. tractor No Yes
	Emulations	H-P Deskjet H-P Deskjet
						Optional IBM Proprinter
							 Epson FX-850
