Hi SCSI expert,

I have documentation about my SCSI HD (Digital DSP3000L Series), but
for a non-SCSI expert it is very brief. So can anyone tell my anything
about (or where can I find good detailled documentation):

- notification of AC power failure
- spindle synchronization
- write protection
- spin delay

And what is the best configuration for the HD.

My system SCSI-configuration:
Mainboard:
  PCI/I-P5MP3 Rev. 2.3

  NCR SDMS(TM) V3.0 53C810 SCSI BIOS, PCI REV. 2.0
  Copyright 1993 NCR Corporation
  PCI20-3.01.04

SCSI Adapter:
  PCI-SC200 Rev. 1.1
  (chip: NCR 53C810 PT)

SCSI HD:
  DEC DSP3053LS
  (Interface chip: NCR 53CF96-1 (1992))

Thanx !

Spits out any cached write data and retracts the actuator. Stops responding
to commands. Active low input.

>- spindle synchronization
Synchronize multiple spindles in a system by connecting this pin across all
of them. Bidirectional TTL open collector.

>- write protection
Now that's easy isn't it? Active low input.

>- spin delay
Do not spin up at power up (wait for a START UNIT or wait a certain time defined
in the mode pages.) Active low input.

It's all in the manual or installation guide.

Just make sure write caching is on. Set the WCE bit in the caching mode page.
Get yourself DSP tools to do that. E.g. at
http://www.vobis.de/bbs/firmen/quantum/tools/index.html

Hope this helps,
