[Q] HP - HP/UX - Pascal

Dear Sirs,

I have some questions about HP, HP/UX and Pascal.
First of all - don't say that Unix and Pascal have
absolutely nothing in common - for me they have...

My situation is as follows:

- I have a program written in MS-Pascal (DOS). It is
VERY complicated, because of programming limitations
in DOS environment (640 kB barrier etc.).
- It is ported to HP/UX, AIX, SCO and soon to SunOS.
- My development environment is HP715/33 with HP/UX 9
  (nicknamed "SSSSLLLOOOOOOOOWWW" :-) and I'm using HP's
  own pascal compiler.
- We have done some scripts that make conversion from
MS-Pascal to HP-Pascal. They work quite well.

Those of you who have done cross-platform development,
certainly know that making "portable code" is a difficult
task. Our company has decided to drop Pascal, but now we
just have to live with it. Here are some questions I've
had in mind lately:

Q1. Does HP have a WWW-server, ftp-site or any other
    information source in the Internet?

Q2. Can anyone recommend programming tools for HP/UX+
HP-Pascal? I use xdb debugger now, but if there is
a better one - I'll switch instantly. Share your
    favourite HP-programming tools with me!

Q3. Main problem is here: our program runs on HP-server
and users are using it via PC-terminals. If they
accidently (or not) reset their PC, our program on
HP continues to run (ie. process is still alive).
When our programs keep on running, it sure eats all
    the resources from HP.

It is kinda "silly" to teach users to "kill -9" those
processes on HP. What we need is some kind of an inter-
rupt handler that detects that the user is no longer on-
line. In language C that would be no problem to implement,
but I'm not very skilled Pascal programmer and HP's own
manual STRONGLY discourages using "catch_signals" - so
    I'm confused.

If there is another way to do it - please let me know!

All your notices about cross-platform development, cross-
platform development tools, HP/UX+Pascal are very welcome!
If you can, please answer by email too, because I can't
check these news groups often enough.

Thanks in advance,

Pasi Tolonen
