My previous post ripped up HP because I was cut off after waiting for 30 minutes on a long-distance phone line, & then had to enter the queue all over again. I finally did get in touch with HP tech support - & to their credit, they actually called ME back & stayed on for an hour. Unfortunately, I still can't get Caere's Omnipage 6.0 to work as it is supposed to, with my 4c HP scanner & Windows 95. However, I HAVE now determined that the scanner is not the problem. It works; DeskScan works; paperport works. Are there any OCR bulletin boards or newsgroups out there? I am at least pleased to report that someone at HP tech support took the time to walk a very unhappy customer through testing & reinstallation of the offending program, on their phone time. I am still immensely frustrated by the non-compatibility of my brand new computer, brand-new scanner, and brand-new software, but at least can report to this audience that HP has done their part.
