3Com ISDN TA USB Disables HP 3100 Virtual Serial Ports /\

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone use the above mentioned TA in conjunction with an HP LaserJet 3100? I'm asking because updating the firmware, drivers and Control Center seems to have induced an incompatibility with the "virtual" serial ports that the HP 3100 uses to communicate with the desktop. I've spent quite a few hours on the phone with HP on this and I'm just about to call 3Com, <gasp>. This multi-function printer was working just fine prior to the upgrade and now _only_ works if I disable the 3Com ISDN TA in device manager. (Multiple A/B comparisons confirm this) Does this sound familiar to anyone, or does anybody have even the slightest clue as to why this may be happening or what to do about it?
