Hello world, recently I got a larger HD. On my previous HD I had Win3.11 installed and a year later I upgraded to Win95. Whenever I played a DOS-based game that required EMS (expanded memory) I used 'memmaker' to get me some. On my new HD Win95 was installes straight away; and memmaker seems to have gone with the wind. How/where can I get/use memmaker. Last but not least : the amount of free 'base memory' available seems to have taken a steep dive. Wheter or not I use the DOS window in Win95, or I restart my computer in DOS mode I never get more than +/-550K free base memory available. Any help/replies would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance William

How/where can I get/use memmaker. Hi William, In which way did you install Windows 95? Did you install it on top of your old DOS and Win 3.1x? If you did this, you could try the following. As soon as you start up your computer and you see the message "Starting Windows 95", press F8. This will bring up a start menu with a range of selections depending on your configuration. Try to select *Boot to DOS* (or whatever), or "Boot to previous version of DOS". That way you will have all the functionality (and restrictions) of your old DOS but you are able to run programs and games in an environment that you are comfortable with. Memmaker is available on the Win95 CD and works in Win95 DOS (DOS7) just fine. It is not installed to your hard drive. E-mail me and I can zip it up and send it to you if you can't get your hands on the CD.
