Before new drivers could run JSF, albeit only in dogfight mode. Would always lock up in campaign mode 5 to 10 seconds into the game. Now crashes with a D3d error...Could not lock primary surface. Anyone else seeing this or know of a fix. TIA, Braun BTW...been there done that re: reinstall program, drivers, etc. Thanks again!

I just got JSF and installed it on my system (166mmx, 32 megs RAM, Mystique 220 and Monster 3D, and Windows 98 beta 3). I'm getting the same "Could not lock primary surface" error as well, and no amount of fiddling with my display drivers (like turning down the hardware acceleration setting) has helped. The Eidos Interactive "support" website weasels out, saying that Windows 98 is unsupported and that users are welcome to "give it a try". This seems like a pretty poor position to take - granted, Windows 98 is in beta, but many people are running it now and many more will be when it gets released. Every other piece of 3DFX-enabled and D3D software continues to work just fine with Windows 98 - Turok, Flying Corp Gold, Longbow 2, etc. Anyone know of a workaround? Anyone from Eidos reading this forum?

You posted your opinions, speculations, and assumptions, and passed it off as fact - even though you don't even have the Windows 98 beta and no not a thing about it! In fact, a random sampling of many of your posts reveals that you are involved in an unusually high number of flame wars in this forum, usually due to the fact that you like to pass off opinion and speculation as gospel, and refuse to acknowledge that you may not know what you're talking about. As a matter of fact, you said it best yourself here in a thread on FA/18: "Sorry about my post- every once in a while I have to assume something and show how I am wrong 100% of the time when I do. I am still hoping 1 day that at least 1 of my assumptions will be right before I die." -Stock2@aol.com, 3/9/98 >This again is my final, final on this stupid subject. Promise? >This post does serve some value- it exposes your mentality. Whatever. I think most people here have a pretty good handle on *yours*.
