Beta testers needed!

Greetings fellow gamers!

I am looking for people to beta-test a web-based Strategy Game set in a
Futuristic Space environment, massive multiplayer of course, and no client
downlaod needed.

Each players has his own Planet in space, fighting over limited resources
against the other players, developing new technology, building ships and
other advanced spacecraft. Form alliances, Plan large-scale attacks with
other players and attack together, taking full advantage of large-scale
attacks.

Gameplay works a bit like common RTS games, with building of structures,
researching new technology and building units, to send them out in war.

All this, for free!

Naturally, we must live also, so we plan on showing banners at the top of
the screen, but you wil never be charged a cent for playing. SO now you are
warned about banners, I just want to be straight with you.

But if you drop me a mail, I will add your e-mail to the Beta-Testers
mailing list.

WE WILL NEVER GIVE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESSES TO ANYONE, IT WILL ONLY BE USED FOR
CONTACTING OUR BETA TESTERS WITH GAME AND TEST INFORMATION!!!!!!

So drop me a mail, and you will hear from me shortly.

Kind regards
Christian Lassem

I can assure you, this is not spam at all, but an honest attempt to obtain
intrested players. Yes, I posted the message in several groups, all related
to gaming, to be sure many people gets a fair chance. If my message is taken
for spam, tell me what I could have written to make it sound more serious!

Because it is!

If what you felt missing was information, like title and such, I chose to
not give that out just yet, as we still havent registered a domain name for
it yet, and I would like to be able to register it without finding that
people knowing what the name will be has "stolen" the domain.

I can gladly reveal to people who think this is spam, that you can look at
my homepage on http://home.c2i.net/chrislas to find out about me, read about
my experience in the game-industry, and find out I am a gamer for real.

So please please please do not take my posting as spam, it surely isnt!
We will launch our Beta-testing in a very short time, and then I will be
able to prove it to you all!
But if you do not want to be added to the tester-list, that is fine, but we
are trying to start up a small company making free games here, so please do
not judge us too hard for being a bit naive and maybe not the best spekers
and smooth writers in this group. All companies have started somewhere, and
we have almost a finished product now without having received any funding
yet! So whatever happens, and whatever you think of us, I am still proud for
making a cool game!

Christian Lassem
- I am just trying to get the word out about a coming free game! Is that so
bad?

Hi again!

I see my first post must have been poorly written, and maybe a bit to
misleading. I wil now try to clarify a bit more what kind of game we are
talking about:

WHat we have made, is a Web-based Strategy Game. The interface, if I may be
technical, will be pure HTML. All players must create an account at our
website, login with their name and password, and they will be directed to
the gamesite, logged in a a certain user.
This user will then enter a HTML page with a menu on the left, with access
to the different "screens" like Constructoin Yard (Where you are supposed to
buid your buildings, the Science Lab, where you can do research on various
topics and even a production facility where you can build spaceships (A
bunch different unit-types, Like fighters, bombers, cruisers, Science Vesses
++++).

Now, consider this game to be turnbased, with one turn taking place every
hour.
Every hour, our (hopefully) huge database will update all accounts, adding
this round of new resources, completeing structures or units, maybe even
opening up for some new availabe research items or units and such.

The menu also has a "Military" screen, where you can send your ships out on
missions. You can attack other players to steal some of their
hard-worked-for asteroids (which produces resources every round), maybe even
get a rare one which produces a NEW resource type, used to build some
SPECIAL unit, or you can even send your ships on Defending missions, to help
allies who are under attack.

We also have some discussion groups going inside the game, we have a message
system so all players can send messages to eachohter, and quite a bit of fun
and surprises I do not yet wish to reveal here. (Yes, the testers will
receive the whole lot, along with all algorithms used in combat calculation
and so on).

So the reason that there is no download, is that it is in HTML
(CGI-generated of course) connected to our database. This is not intended to
be something you play for 3 hours in a row, like more normal games, but one
you log on to once or twice a day, to build new buildings, more ships,
checking your inbox for messages and discussing galaxy-topics within a
closed board. So no flash, no 3D, no force-feedback, but good od strategy
fun!

To any gamers who have yet not tried such strategy games, I promise, it wil
be a lot of fun.
And the more testers and later on regular users, THE MORE FUN!

And: There are other games iof this type on the net now, but we have worked
hard to make sure we have a better product, focused on gameplay and
dynamics, making things a litte bit different every now and then. If you
liked Starcraft, or play games like Descent Freespace (Which rocks bigtime!)
then this would be worth a try.
And what do you have to loose, it's free!

I hope this was at least a bit clarifying, and that some of you will
actually join us as beta-testers.

With hope of being understood, allthough my keyboard is very reluctant to
type the letter 'l' from time to time,
Christian Lassem

PS: If you guys reacted because I cross-posted, I am sorry, but all the
groups were related to the game, and I am sorry if I offended anyone.

Hi there,

So long as it is a genuine effort concerning multiplayer games
accessible in the UK then you're more than welcome here :) It's just
that it did "sound" a bit spammy :) Thanks for the clarification.

Look guys, I know banners can be a real bummer, but we have been working on
this game for a while for free now, and we have to do some tests in a real
environment, and listen to the feedback on it! Naturaly, we also need to
measure which pages that people go through too quickly before exiting, and
such. ALso, a beta-test is supposed to be test of the real thing, with some
tweaking of game variables left, and that is what we are aiming for!

And by god, is it so bad that people who have been working months on a free
game for everyone to enjoy can make a buck afterwards on showing banners?
We havent been paid a dime for making this game, we have done it totally for
free.
So I sure think we deserve those possible 200$ we could earn on such a beta
test, considering we have expenses on internet line and such.
Come on, be fair, we need a fair chance here!

Kind regards
Christian Lassem
