Argh! I was afraid of that answer. Shouldn't there be a way with
software to reset/clear the state of the card by writing some command
to a register? I just got the card a few days back as part of a CD ROM
purchase and I don't want to buy another one.

This card has a BIOS, but it's diabled because otherwise the system
tries to boot of it rather than my two IDE drives.

By the way, I sent ADAPTEC (support@adaptec.com) a message and after a
few days waiting for a response all I got was "we don't support Linux"
-- duh! It's really not a Linux problem at all, but a problem that
the card doesn't reset itself when the system is booted/reset. This
really seems to me a design error.

Anyone else out there have any suggestions?
