Does any one know where I can get the lastest Panasonic 562 drivers.

563 drivers are everywhere, but the 562 seams to be unsupported.

My drivers are dated in 93!

Thanks for any help at all!

Please respond to this group or to:

Thanks

Uhh...Somebdy correct me, if I'm wrong, but I am under the impression
that the 563 is the OEM (Creative and others) version of the 562.
So the drivers for 562 should work ok.
But as I said I might be wrong.

there is only a small difference in the 563 and 562, one byte in
the rom and the audio cable. the 563 driver is easily modified
to work with the 562. the newest sbcd is 07/06/95

You are write and wrong. It is an OEM version, but the 563 drivers do not work.

Oh boy, here we go again...

There was a little patch that basically changed 1 bit in the SBCD.SYS
driver to make it look for 562 instead of 563. That worked from
version 4.12 onward and is still working as far as I know. Otherwise
you can use the MKE driver.

Unless you are suffering some kind of problem, why update the driver
anyway? E-mail me for the patch info or a driver if you feel you MUST
have the latest (not necessarily the greatest) one...

You will find it very hard to find any updated drivers on the Panasonic
562B drive, as this drive is closly identical to the Creative 563B drive
which is a supported drive by Creative Technology. It is obvious that
Creative will support their own drive, hence the abundance of 563 drivers,
but has ignored updating drivers for the 562B, as it is a clone of their
very own drive. It really boils down to what you pay for, the cheaper
brand name that is unsupported or a reliable brand, costing a bit more,
but at least supported. A lot of people have bought this drive and find
themselves in the same situation. Maybe its time for you to go to
Hex-speed!

I hope this helps!

I'm sure I'll well and truly be corrected if I'm wrong, but isnt the
Creative Labs 563 a rebadged Panasonic drive? I was under the impression
that the Panasonic 562 appears in many different guises as an OEM product.

I suppose its a bit like saying the Toyota Camry is a clone of the Holden
Apollo!!!!!

I an running a c562b with the newest creative technology cr563
driver. the difference between the the drives ( one byte in the
rom which identifies the drive type) makes it easy to modiifiy
the cr563 driver to work with the cr562.

There are new drivers for the CR562B located at
www.panasonic.com There is a bug in the Win95 Mkepanasonic
device driver and the new drivers at panasonic correct this.
