Question: Time Commando CD-ROM game: copy-protected?

I recently bought Time Commando on cd. It installed OK, but when I tried
to run it, it said my cd-rom drive wasn't fast enough (it's an old
Panasonic).

This has happened to me before, so I copied the contents of the cd to a
blank partition on my hdd and installed from the partition. The
installation went OK.

When I tried to run Time Commando under Win95, however, it started for a
second or two, then shut down and bounced me back into Windows, without
any sort of error message.

I looked at the amount of space used by files on the cd and compared the
total to the amount of space used on my hdd partition. The hdd partition
total was about 540Kb less. So I thought the copy must have missed a
file.

I then went through every single directory on the cd and compared each
file to its mate on the hdd partition. There was not one single missing
or different file.

I then took the cd out of the drive and realised it had "DisCover Copy
Protected" printed all over it.

What do I do? I've spent hours on this already. Do I just take the cd
back and forget Time Commando?

Any help is appreciated.
