Would someone be nice to me and tell me how to install my cd-rom.

I brought a Turtle Beach TBS900 with teac's cd-rom, data cable, audio
cable inside. Because my original IDE card is fulled with my 2 hard
drive and 2 floppy drives. So I went to store and brought another IDE
card (Boca IDE 100). I took out the data cable and connected to the cd-rom
and second IDE card. I set second IDE card as secondary and IRQ 15 and
enablehard drive and no floppy drive. I pluged the power supply to the
cd-rom correctly. When I turn on the computer, Windows 95 will lock up
if the data cable is connect to the cd-rom. BTW, cd-rom is set as
master. So I unpluged the data cable to cd-rom, let windows95 start
first. Then I ran the ADD NEW HARDWARE on the win95, but it couldn't
find the cd-rom only the IDE card. Then, I used the installation disk
come with the cd-rom to install the cd-rom under msdos. But it was no
use, it tells me that it detected that I am running win95, and win95
will automaticly detect my cd-rom under ADD NEW HAED WARE. Then I
went back to win95 and run that program again, but still it can't
detect the cd-rom. So, I try to conncet the cd-rom on
the sound card. This time, the windows95 didn't locked up, but when I am
in the windows, all the sounds are disabled. Then I find out the sound
card is not detected by windows 95. Would anyone tell me how to install
the cd-rom when you see this message. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<snip>

A couple of things to try.

Firstly it sounds like you may have the cable connected the wrong way
around on your inital installation.. reconnect to the IDE card, make
sure your BIOS is set up to accept the second card and re boot.

without the win ADD hardware install the CD using the software
provided, hopefully this is an automated routine.

then restrt your computer

if the CD-rom is recognised from there then use it and don't use the
add hardware routine. If it is still not recognised use the add
hardware routine.

restart your computer and immediately go to the control panel
double click on system.go to the device manager tab!. If there is a
conflict then there will be a yellow ! in a triangle. double click on
the triangle and try and fix the problem from there.

Try using the have disk command when asked for the drive in
proporties. If it still isn't working try swaping the cable around
and try again!

Hi. There are a lot of reasons that it might not work. I recommend to
not use 2 controller cards. They are almost always conflicting. I
recommend to use the sound card as the controller. You can also get a
fast ATA2 card which can control up to 4 devices. I have the Teac
cd-rom drive model 55A and use a Sound Blaster card. It is plugged
into the panasonic slot on the card. What type of sound card do you
have? Some sound cards are not compatible with some cd-rom drives. You
might need to find this out. If you have other ?'s e-mail me at
kkovac@jeffnet.org.
