Hello, Didn't know where to post this, sorry. Anyway, I installed the software off the CD, and tried to play the .VOB file on the CD with the "Creative PlayCenter". It worked, but was very shaky and paused every few seconds. And I have a decent system (p2-400, 128mb, ...) So I downloaded the newest drivers off of creative's site, and now the video is just junk. I always get audio though. Where do I go from here? Also, the one DVD game I have (Acess' Tex Murphy: Overseer) runs, but whenever it tries to play a video I get a message saying it can't activate the MPEG2 driver... no matter which one I select (and I have no idea what would be the proper driver). Thanks alot, Dan

Install the decoder card into a different PCI slot and make certain it is not sharing an IRQ with another device. If you have an AGP video card, do not install the decoder card into PCI slot 1. In addition, change the memory range for the decoder card in the Device Manager to D1000000-D10FFFFF -- Susan Hartson Creative Labs Technical Support Tech Support: 405-742-6655 http://www.creative.com/ Hausman <Haus@pitnet.net> wrote in message news:UbNV3.1101$Oj5.359045@homer.alpha.net... > Hello, > > Didn't know where to post this, sorry. Hi -
Just happened to see this and realized that I had no idea that a DVD
decoder card requires it's own irq. I'd assumed it was more along the lines of a
voodoo II and didn't require one. Since I'm in the market for an item like this,
can anyone confirm that it does need it's 'own' irq? Is it at least sharable if
it does? thanks,
sorry for jumping this bandwagon,
Mick

My dxr3 is sharing IRQ9 with my AGP TNT2 card AND is in PCI slot 1 Works fine allthough Susan recommends against doing this. Why is that Susan? Maybe I'm not susan, but the reason is that you are lucky, because 99 times of 100 it doesn't work. The card needs it's own IRQ why it does work with your system, well beats me!
