Hi there.

I recently purchased a second hand Western Computer IMB PC from a local
computer sale. I am considering upgrading the CPU to an AMD 586-133 CPU.
However I need to know the jumper settings etc to perform this.

I have been searching the internet to find a site that has jumper
settings for this board - since the machine did not come with a manual.
The only problem is that the motherboard has no identifying marks to
indicate the manufacturer of the motherboard...!!

Here are all the details I could extract from the board. Can anyone help
me identify this board and/or provide jumper settings ? I think that
Western Computers purchase the motherboards from overseas manufacturers.
It says V1.2 in one corner of the board. But apart from the chipset
information - there is not one ounce of text to indicate the board
manufacturer.

Mystery Motherboard
-------------------

This is what I know:

486 motherboard with 4 x 72 pin RAM slots
3 PCI slots
4 ISA slots
ALi chipset ( 2 large chips on the board )
UMC chipset ( 1 smaller chip on the board )
Socket 3 CPU slot
AMIBIOS 486 ISA BIOS

Current CPU is a DX4-100 Intel OverDrive. ( 5V )
Motherboard appears to have voltage settings for 3.3V and 5V
The voltage settings are determined by J6 and J7.

The ALi chips have the following information on it:
Chip 1: M1487 A1
		9524 TS5
		B36660ME
Chip 2: M1489 A1
		9524 TS5
		B36660ME

The UMC chip has the following information on it:
UM8663AF
9523 - BYT
N43073

The board is one of the smaller size motherboards. The manufacture date
is August 1995.
PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

OR is there a diagnostic program out there that can identify the
motherboard manufacturer via software means ?

Thanks in advance.
