Not sure how the many thousands of people around the world who are,
very successfully, 'doing' DV with Wintel machines and good, recent
EIDE drives (eg Fireball ST) should take this. It does rather seem to
undermine the credibility of your whole argument.
You're talking aout what perhaps was the situation a year or two back,
but EIDE performance has moved on dramatically, especially over the
last 12 months. Being charitable, let me assume that you're talking
about the very highest ('terrestrial broadcast') quality DV. This
always has required the most expensive DV editing suites and I'm sure
still uses the best imaginable SCSI systems. But the remaining 99% of
DV usage is very much open to the EIDE invasion now.
