Hi

Your problem is that your motherboard has an auto setting of cpu
voltage by either 3.3 volt fixed (non mmx cpu's) or auto 3.3/2.8 for
the mmx versions of Intel 166-233 MHz.
So it is not compatible with k6-2 requirering 2.2 volt.

Powerleap has a voltage adapter for 50 $ or you can by it with a k6-3
400 on.

There is a fresh bios-file from 1999-02-11 for your board, which
should ensure compatibility with large harddisks in the range 8.4-32
Gbyte.

Further since motherboards with riser card are not available anywhere,
the cabinet cannot be reused for a new motherboard.
K6-2 xxx are cheap, but will not be produced after year 2000. The
future is quite problematic for future cpu upgrades. Motherboard
layout are changed very quickly, so it is best to plan to have a
motherboard for maybe max. 3 years and then sell it with cpu (and
maybe ram) and get a new board with cpu.

SocketA and Spitfire (Athlon) will be a cheap opportunity after
summer.

If you buy an AOpen ATX cabinet I think it will be quiet (noise
killer) and durable for you. I had to give the supply's blower two
drips of oil recently. It could be done from the outside by removing a
grid, a sticker and a plastic plate. Gear- or motor-oil is well
suited. Then replace all.
