Sorry, but the Trition II is a pentium chipset,
and the 5x86s are both 486 replacements. They
won't work. The new AMD 5k86 is the cheapest
thing out right now that will plug into a pentium
socket, but I would get one of their "proven compatible"
M/Bs. I haven't tried the chip, and haven't heard
much talk about it, so I would make sure that I
can return everything if I couldn't get it to
work. The problem with this idea is that I might
not get the M/B that I really want. So, if there
is one that you really want you would have to
see if it works with the AMD chip. If not, then
Cyrix makes the second cheapest chips. The slowest
6x86. They are really cheap, and really fast.
But then again, I would wait a while so that
I could get a M/B that suports the new 75Mhz
bus since that is what I would want eventually.
Since I don't know what you want, I can't decide
for you. Watch this news group and decide for
yourself.
