RESEARCH FRONTIERS ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT
OF HIGH CONTRAST FLAT PANEL DISPLAY
WOODBURY, N.Y. - Jan. 30, 1995 - Research Frontiers Inc. announced today
that the company has successfully developed with the collaboration of
London's Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, a new type
of flat panel display which can offer display manufacturers and users
an attractive alternative to conventional liquid crystal displays.
The new displays utilize electrically orientable collodial particles
dispersed in a liquid and are known as suspended particle displays or SPDs.
The displays offer high information content as well as good brightness, good
contrast and an excellent angle of view. Unlike conventional liquid crystal
displays (LCDs), the SPDs do not require light-absorbing sheet polarizers.
Hence the SPDs are simpler to construct and have reduced backlighting
requirements compared to LCDs.

NEW TWIST IN OFF-SITE BACKUP MEDIA STORAGE FOR
SMALL ORGANIZATIONS AND HOME-BASED BUSINESSES
Feb. 2, 1995 - National OffSite Storage provides backup media storage
with two advantages: storage at a distance, and periodic media rotation.
This solves two of the biggest problems facing small organizations when
they look for backup storage providers: 1) Local storage firms are
subject to the same risk for natural disasters as the customers they
serve, and 2) Fresh backup sets sometimes are not delivered to local
storage as often as they should be.
National OffSite Storage also provides a free disaster recovery
planning guide to those who have not yet developed their own disaster
plan. Oriented to the needs and capabilities of the small organization
or home-based business, the guide is an Adobe Acrobat v2 document with
a hypertext guide, flowcharts, boilerplate, and the forms necessary
for a small organization to develop their disaster plan quickly and at
minimal cost. More information can be found on their www home page:

PENN STATE MAKES COMPUTER-BASED PRESENTATIONS

Focus on Sharpening Presentation Skills with Harvard Graphics
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - January 31, 1995 - When the academicians in charge
of developing Penn State University's MBA program met in 1975, they
mandated a focus on communication to distinguish their program from those
at other institutions. It all began innocently enough. Then, in 1982,
they dared to enter into newer technologies, making computer-based
presentation skills a portion of the first year's required course on oral,
written and visual communications. "Originally we taught the visual portion
using felt tip pens and acetate to make overheads," recalls Professor Robert
Griffin. "But in 1982, we integrated computer-based presentations, and this
segment of the course has taken off from there."
