Hi I work in an English Secondary School which has just joined the Internet. About 3 weeks ago our prized Sportster 14k4 modem was stolen (from a locked storeroom). Since that time I have been approached by a Sixth former who was after fax software but I knew he hadn't got a fax modem. I asked him if he'd got a new modem and he says he borrowed one from another school. After checking with the school in question this seems unlikely, especially as he keeps feeding different stories to different members of staff. We know that he never managed to get hold of the instruction book. Is there a way, using AT codes to determine the model of modem he has. It must not be too obvious since I don't want him to catch on. I'm sure there must be as Windows 95 managed to identify my Supra by itself. I had considered using the AT I or AT I3 commands. Is this what I am looking for (will it give a unique code) and what results codes should I be expecting? Thanks for all your help :-) Rob Butler rob@pulsar.demon.co.uk * Booting up with Windows 95 *
