Huh? The only Windows 3.1 utilities you can't use in Windows 98 are disk utilities and desktop programs that have specific ties to Windows 3.x. If Windows 3.x is working fine for you, that's great. But don't expect to find a lot of stuff at retail that still supports it. It's like the false theory of Darwinism, the strongest and fittest will survive. I remember the orginial thread you wrote, about how 2 guys swore up and down that the modem would work in Windows 3.x, even though the box said Windows 95. That was their fault. However, I never rely on anyone for any of my information if I don't have to, esp. when it comes to computers. Sadly, many in the retail business are untrained and unskilled. I remember when I got my first job at a national retail store in the computer dept. First day, I'll never forget this. Woman calls up asking if we had external cdrom drives. So, I walk with the cordless phone to the cd-rom wall and tell her, of course we do, we have a whole wall of them. When she comes in, I realize that I was wrong. We only had one external cd-rom drive for $299 (I still remember the price!!!! hehehe). Any ways, I felt like a real idiot. But, I'm much smarter now. That was about 3 years ago. Since then, I have built my own computer system, installed linux, etc. Simply put, most of them boys are learning like I did. Never rely on their for accurate information.
