>Elite 47: A Powerful Capacity Point
>With the introduction of the Elite 47, Seagate's sixth generation of Elite
>drives continue their far-reaching standard of providing ultimate capacity,
>superior performance and proven reliability. Indeed, the 47 Gbyte Elite 47
>represents the industry's highest-capacity disc drive, providing more than
>two times the capacity of the next-largest generation disc drive available
>today. The 5.25-inch Elite 47 makes it ideal for storage-hungry mainframe
>applications, enterprise and department servers and digital A/V
>applications.

>Performance
>Seagate has designed the Elite 47 to top the performance charts. Its low
>latency (5.56 msec) and rapid seek time (13 msec) translate to it
phenomenal
>ability to process I/O requests. The 5,400-RPM Elite 47 provides a
sustained
>formatted data-transfer rate ranging from 15.6 to 23 Mbytes per second,
>which is equal to that of the 7,200-RPM Barracuda 9. The Elite 47 Ultra
>SCSI provides staggering burst data-transfer rates of 20 Mbytes per second
>for an 8-bit -wide parallel interface and 40 Mbytes per second for
>16-bit-wide parallel interface.
>
>Two key factors enter into the Elite 47's performance: a 4096-Kbyte
>multisegmented adaptive cache for accelerated performance and

>The innovative Elite 47 has leveraged all of the proven technologies,

>demonstrated over 1,000,000 hours MTBF. These technologies include
>magnetoresistive (MR) heads, partial-response, maximum likelihood (PRML)

>To further increase throughput enhancements, the Elite 47 uses a
>full-function read-ahead cache that can be divided into as many as 16
>segments. The data in these blocks is available to the host with no

Great, as soon as I win the lottery, I'll but one for everyone on this
N.G.

I enjoy the speed difference my 1 Gig Connor makes over my 1.6 Gig WD
Caviar. Even though the Caviar runs at 8.5 ms seek (DOS Norton Sysinfo),
the Connor blows it away in terms of speed/access. If I had more money, I
would but the about drive... *sigh*
