Andrew Cullen writes: "Win95 PC with 4 com ports. COM3 has IRQ11 and "COM4 IRQ12 - I'm using a 2port 16550 ISA serial card. (IRQ 12 is normally "PS2 Mouse interrupt - unused on my PC). "For more than two extra ports, get a custom 4 or eight port card and driver "- usually shares a single "interrupt but card is more $. " "Works fine all 4 ports at once. Trick I think is to "fool" Win95 by adding "6 comports - you can "change IRQ of COM5 and COm6 to 11 or 12 or whatever. Then delete ports 3 "and 4 and reboot. The problem I can anticipate here: if you later have to do "Add hardware", Win95's plug & pray might change the ports back to what they "should" be? I'm far from sure of this; but the sort of problem that bedevils me is a network card (NIC) set to use IRQ 10, set so that Win95 can't change it (jumpered to be software configurable but not p&p). Whenever Win95 adds hardware it likes to allocate IRQ3 to the NIC, which will of course no longer talk to the network. Best wishes, -- Michael Salem
