I had an internal sporster modem running on IRQ5 and COM3 on Windows
3.1 for several months. I just went to Windows 95 and decided to use
the PNP feature of the modem, so I removed the jumpers and let Windows
95 assign the modem to IRQ3, COM2. I don't know if I could have forced
it to IRQ5, COM3 or not. I was also using the mouse on IRQ4, COM1. I
found (at least on Windows 3.1) that COM1 and COM3 could be used
without a problem as long as each had its own IRQ.
