Auxiliary fan on Intel m/board

I've just bought an Intel Endeavour m/board and the manual refers to
one of the header blocks as being connected to an auxiliary 12V fan.
This is not for the processor as that has a piggyback connection to
the disk power leads for the on-processor fan. Does anyone know what
this header is for? The only thing that I can think is that there is
temperature checking circuitry on these m/boards which would cause
this auxiliary fan to cut in as required
