On my ST-6330A, chkdsk says 545Mb but Scandisk gives bad sectors at the
end. I had a CMOS loss (don't know why) and after I belived that I had
restored everything chkdsk says 545,325,056 Bytes and scandisk starts
checking all the 33,284 clusters but finds that everything after 32,278
are bad. I have not allowed the FAT to have them marked bad yet, as I
haven't quite given up on the last part of my drive.
I am faily sure that scandisk passed sqeaky clean prior to the CMOS
problem.
BTW, there are 200 plus Mb of programs and data on the drive and all
appear to be fine, so a high level format is not my favoured approach at
this point.
This drive is hanging off a PCI IDE interface and the P60 system has an
Intel baby-AT Motherboard with an AMI Flash EEPROM Bios.
Any help or advice will be greatfully received.
