Archive Viper 2150L Tape Streamer

Dear All,

I've just bought a second hand Archive Viper 2150L tape streamer for
my Linux box, and have run into a problem, which I hope somebody out
there may be able to help me with.

Whenever the streamer receives the RESET or REWIND commands from the
host (both DOS and Linux QIC-02), the tape rewinds, as expected, but
the drive never detects the BOT markers (series of holes in the tape).
This results in the tape being wound off the spools inside the
cartridge, and the host software blocking, as it awaits the OK from
the streamer.

Now then, I've checked that there are no obstructions in the EOT/BOT
detector, but I've noticed that there is no light coming from the LED
either. Does anyone know if this is normal, or does it operate in the
visible spectrum? Ideally, I'm looking for a circuit diagram, so I
can run my own diagnostics on the drive. Does anybody have any
contact addresses for Archive Corp.?

Many thanks for reading this far!

Kenny.
