The EZ 135 *does* have a parallel port version out now! And, btw, I'm
really interested in hearing if the utilities for it are any good,
b/c I've heard the ZIP's are outstanding -- *IF* you use DOS/Windows..

: The Zip drive is less expensive, less capacity, slower, lacks a power

: additional hard drive, to load apps on, to boot various operating systems
: on one system without relying on a boot manager. The Zip is good for
: archival, as smaller capacity cheaper media is available, and the parallel
: interface makes sharing with machines without scsi cards (especially
: notebooks) convenient and economical. I could realistically see running a
: system with BOTH of them! I would use the Syquest as my boot drive, and
: load win NT, win95, os/2, win 3.11, and various linux distributions on
: Syquest cartridges, and use the parallel Zip drive to share files with my
: notebook, which runs windows. If syquest comes out with a 1GB drive, I
: will be in line to buy one as soon as I hear about it.

: I don't see why such a big argument, the differences are pretty clear and
: both are good to have around.

Now I've seen ZIP cartridges in the Computer Shopper somewhere for $16.90?
So that's about the same as the 3 packs at $50.. And I know the EZ's are
$20... As others have noted, there is virtually no difference in price,
so since the EZ is so much faster, and since bigger cartridges, in my
book, present many advantages, why no get the EZ? That is, unless you
need the parallel port backup, and the EZ's is not as good as the ZIP...
