An interesting thing happened today. I decided to back up my nearly-full 850MB HD on an external WangDAT 1300 tape via an Adaptec (nee Trantor) MiniSCSI adapter cable, something I've done in the past. As I alread had a parallel ZIP drive connected to my computer's parallel port, I simply connencted the MiniSCSI cable to the ZIP's printer port. Then, I ran the SCSITEST utility that came with the MinSCSI cable. Imagine my surprise when it said that it found TWO SCSI DEVICES!!! It identified one as WangDAT 1300, V02.1, sequential access device and the other as IOMEGA ZIP 100 V C.19, direct access device What's the significance of this? Is the ZIP really a SCSI device with a built in parallel-to-SCSI interface? How hard would it be to bypass that interface and get right at the SCSI part? Thanks, Pete
