I have an old Archive Python 4mm 2GB DAT drive (back when Archive was owned by Maynard). I can read or write the first 400 or so MB of the tape, then there is a clunk noise, and the green LED starts flashing. Is this a symptom of broken heads? Will cigarette smoke readily kill DAT heads (so I can give my parents a bill for a new drive)? I bought the drive 2 years ago with new heads (used drive) and used it fairly lightly. I've tried using a sony cleaning tape; it stops the green LED from flashing, but I still can't use more than 400MB on the tape without the clunk (which makes the drive inaccessible). I've tried multiple tapes with the same results. Finally, does anyone have references for places that may repair this drive for $300 or less (else the trash can and replacement are cheaper) John
