I was having some very bad SCSI errors with a Micropolis 4110 1.2GB drive
attached to an Adaptec 7770 controller. After fiddling around with
different cables, a new controller, and removing all other devices from
the SCSI bus, I was told by Micropolis that problems with the drive had
been noted by Novell Netware users, and I needed to upgrade the firmware.
They told me to get document #54110 from their faxback, and follow its 
instuctions. This involved dialing their BBS and getting two files,
aspiutil.exe
up0322l.bin
putting them on a dos boot diskette along with the driver for the SCSI
controller in the diskettes config.sys, booting it and running aspiutil
to upgrade the firmware.

The error that was occuring for me was :
adapter 0 error, data Overrun or Underrun
This would occur intermittently under SCO Unix, although I could force the
error to occur by booting up from a boot disk and fsck'ing /dev/hd0root.
The data errors would end up causing fsck to actually corrupt the filesystem
(since I wasn't running fsck -n). The firmware patch fixed this problem.

(Note that their fax-back number is the same as their tech support number)
