I'm trying to upgarde 8 of these at work, I can't get a 2.1gb drive to work, only 50mb is recognised. Anyone know a solution to this problem. I don't mind using a smaller drive (500mb upwards), but they don't seem to be on sale any more. Any advice offered would be appreciated, Regards Brian Sheehan bdsheehan@coi.gov.uk

Anyone know a solution to this problem. I crammed a 130Mb HDD into a 286 that wouldn't even support a 40Mb once with - god forgive me - EZ-Drive. TB

I have had (on a desktop machine) a 2.5GB drive reported by the BIOS as 450MB-ish, but working perfectly, with all capacity available. I'd say "buy an IDE interface card with on-board BIOS", but that won't help your portable. Otherwise, get hold of Ontrack Disk Manager or something similar. Make sure you make a boot floppy, because that will be the only way to gain access to your data if a hard disc becomes unbootable (without being totally unreadable). HTH, -- Michael Salem

Anyone know a solution to this problem. The OS is seeing the # of cylinders MOD 1024 - this is a well known problem with the early Toshiba BIOSes.
