Nope, the chip is a AMD scsi chip.

: charge for a card. I don't see any reason why you would have to send
: back the system (unless they would return all of your money and you could
: buy a decent computer) just to put in the chip. The socket is already
: on the motherboard.

I mentioned that to them and was informed that they have to update the
bois, this requires them to use a disk that counts the number of installs
and they are billed based on that. They also said that the chip is not
packaged for unit shipping... I have an ESD bench, could do it myself,
but they said it would void my warranty and I could not even upgrade to
it when the send my replacement motherboard since the paperwork would be
a hassle (for them, not me!).

: How did you manage to get approved for a new motherboard? I almost returned
: my system when I say the daughter-board hack that was stuck onto my new
: Pantera 90 system. I called them many times, and was even polite and rational
: for about the first 20 calls, and I had no luck. I should have taken advantage
: of the 30-day return/refund offer and bought another system back then.

I own a very high end laser printer (Optra L) that uses full
bi-directional communications and it works with another machine, but not
this one. It's my uderstanding (from a different Zeos owner) that the irq
lines are held high, and this causes some apps to not act correctly.

I hate to say this (my sympathies to you) but the daughter card clouge
does not constitute a defect. I would have not accepted the machine, and
returned it within the 30 days (at their expense) if I were you.

I almost sent mine back because of the afu P90 chip, but since I should
get mine within a week and I needed to computer to do a specific job for
a client I kept it.

BTW: I got the new mb tonight, but I have not installed it or checked it
for the good P90 chip yet.
