I helped a friend install a CD-ROM and new hard drive to his 486 VESA local bus computer. We had to take out the 5.25 floppy drive to have space for the new hard drive. Installing the new peripherals was not a problem. The problem was when we took out the 5.25 floppy drive, the computer will not boot because the 3.5 floppy drive was the b: drive originally. We changed the cmos settings and put on the power on defaults. Then I tried to tinker with the jumpers in the 3.5 floppy drive. I place the jumper to MD setting - figuring that that was Master drive. When I powered on the computer, only the fan worked. I cannot hear the cpu start or the booting. It seems that there is no power being delivered to the motherboard. I appreciate any help. Thanks and regards. Manny
