Creative RIVA TNT v Geforce 256 DDR

I have a Celeron 300A o/c to 450Mhz. It contains plenty of RAM and hard
disk space. I am running Windows 2000 Professional #2195 and have a
Creative Labs RIVA TNT AGP video card. I am using the 3.52 beta drives
with OpenGL extracted from a later drive set. I could install 3.69 if
they are said to be an improvement. Quake is 1.20.

These are some benchmarks I get in Quake 3, using timedemo 1:

1280x1024, full screen, high quality geometric, 32-bit colour, 32-bit
textures, 100% texture quality, bilinear - too slow to bother measuring

1280x1024, full screen, high quality geometric, 32-bit colour, 32-bit
textures, 75% texture quality, bilinear - too slow to bother measuring

1280x1024, full screen, high quality geometric, 16-bit colour, 16-bit
textures, 75% texture quality, bilinear - 14.1fps

1024x768, full screen, high quality geometric, 32-bit colour, 32-bit
textures, 75% texture quality, bilinear - 15.7fps

1024x769, full screen, high quality geometric, 16-bit colour, 16-bit
textures, 75% texture quality, bilinear - 24.7fps

800x600, full screen, high quality geometric, 32-bit colour, 32-bit
textures, 75% texture quality, bilinear - 24.7fps

800x600, full screen, high quality geometric, 16-bit colour, 16-bit
textures, 75% texture quality, bilinear - 37.4fps

800x600, full screen, high quality geometric, 32-bit colour, 32-bit
textures, 100% texture quality, bilinear - 10.1fps

I would be interested in results, using the same conditions above from
other CL TNT users (whether running Win98 or Win2000 Pro). Please say
what drives you are using.

Also I am considering purchasing a CL Geforce 256 DDR. I would like to
know how dramatically the above benchmarks would improve if I upgraded.

I would be particularly interested to know the result foe Quake 3 on a
Geforce 256 DDR at:

1280x1024, full screen, high quality geometric, 32-bit colour, 32-bit
textures, 75% texture quality, bilinear.

Also with 100% texture and trilinear.

Can anyone post some results, info or links to sites with this?

Thanks.

Hi David,
Benchmarks Q3 Demo001. Highest quality all settings on full - bi-linear.
Test run in W98 so only one processor used. AGP setting at 1/1 for the Anni
PRO otherwise locks. Both tests running 3.62 Nvidia drivers. The Creative
2.08s give 1-3 fps more under W98 for the TNT 1.

System

ABIT BP 6
2 x Celerons 366@550
128MB SDRAM (PC100)
Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 71 (17 inch) monitor
13 GB Quantum (CX) at ATA 33 (not running on 66 port)
6.4 GB Quantum (CX) at ATA 33
DVD (Pioneer)
SB Live (Value)
MPEG 2 decoder
TV card (Brooktree)
8 fans

Benches

TNT 1 Annihilator PRO (GeForce DDR)
16 bit
640 x 480 50.2 fps 73.5 fps
800 x 600 38.1 fps 73.3 fps
1024 x 1024 24.5 fps 69.6 fps
1280 x 1024 14.8 fps 53.4 fps

32 bit
640 x 480 39.8 fps 73.0 fps
800 x 600 24.3 fps 71.6 fps
1024 x 1024 15.0 fps 61.3 fps
1280 x 1024 Error 37.0 fps

regards
@ndrew
