We've recently been having some problems in some locations (one near our MRI scanner, another in a basement with an electrical transformer located outside) with our PC monitor's displays getting 'skewed' (distorted) due to the electromagnetic interference from the MRI scanner and the transformer. Our bioengineering department has tested the areas, and they are below standards for this interference for people, but the equipment (which is usually running 24hours a day) needs to be replaced too often. I've posted this message to a few non-related lists hoping someone knows of a PC monitor that is shielded (I've been told Tempest shielding (used by US Govt for computers that contain classified information) wouldn't be effective in these situations) or otherwise 'tolerant' of this sortof environment. Please reply to me, or to followup to this porting. Followups directed to comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware. -Dan Wing, Systems Administrator, University Hospital, Denver dwing@uh01.colorado.edu or wing_d@ucolmcc.bitnet
