I am very happy with the Parallel Port version of the Zip drive. Very
easy to install and transport. But it is nowhere near as fast as a
hard-drive. The specs usually given are for the SCSI version, which is
far faster. The parallel port, "accelerated" to the maximum setting
with their software and my high-speed local bus EPP, is still only
around 6 or 7 megabytes a minutes, I'd say. It's perfect for storage of
multimedia files and for virus-resistant back-up and for transport, but
I wouldn't run any applications directly from it. - N.
