Help,

I am having problems with windows after about two hours of use.

I have a packard bell legend 204 cd. 486dx2 processor

I upgraded from 8 meg to 16 meg about 3 months ago and had no problems
or errors with that.

I also ugraded about six months ago with an external supra fax modem
28.8

I regular scan my system for viruses with three types of up to date
virus software.

Now here is the problem

I will be using my pc for quite some time. about 2 hours in general
everytime this happens.

All of a sudden. Windows start opening by themselves filling my task
bar with icons of each. Sometimes windows shuts down by itself at this
point. Now my computer sits there and beeps several times until I turn
off my modem which is on com2.

(serial port)

Then after I turn off my modem it stops beeping and proceeds with
saying Now it is safe to turn off your computer.

The only other work I have done was that I removed my 486 dx2 processor
and tried to replace it with a pentium overdrive (come to find out that
I am awaiting a bios and interposer upgrade.)

I then put my processor back and followed the exact factory settings
for all of my jumpers.

I also applied no force onto the zif socket and the 486dx2 processor
went in and out without a problem.

It also appears correctly aligned and I am positive that it is inserted
correctly the same way it came

I have posted this to several groups and if you would not mind could
you email me a response even though this is a newsgroup. However I
will look for postings in all groups. I just tend not to be around
much.

Thank you

Chris
