Well, even though I would like to say that our scanner (F-PROT) was the best, the fact is that no single scanner is the "best" in every sense. It depends on exactly which combination of features you are looking for. Most scanners will detect most of the viruses you are ever likely to encounter - that is the 100 or so viruses that are spread "in the wild" (out of a total of over 2000 different MS-DOS viruses). They may differ with respect to the capabilities of the TSR portion, disinfection capability, and other such features. Actually, the best approach for you might be to download 2 or three scanners from a site such as oak.oskland.edu (/pub/msdos/trojan-pro). There you will find F-PROT (version 2.06a), SCAN (version 99, I think), TBscan and possibly a few others. -frisk -- -- Fridrik Skulason Frisk Software International phone: +354-1-694749 Author of F-PROT E-mail: frisk@complex.is fax: +354-1-28801
