This will sound like we are regressing back to the mainframe paradigm :-( However budgetary constraints are forcing us to consider the possibility of configuring a PC network with a high end 486 with say 500 MB of disk, and four or five SVGA monitors hanging off of it. The rationale is that these are not the principal machines for the user, and will be used only for word processing and spreadsheets, etc. Furthermore, all the data will be resident on a single machine. Any comments on if this is feasible ? Whether it is a good idea ? If the overhead of the networking software/hardware for the monitors is really worth it ? Any estimates of what I may expect to pay ? Will be much obliged for any help that the net can render. Jawa * Statutory Disclaimer : These are merely my views. * * Jawahar M.
