The 550 carries both black and color cartridge at
the same time.
This improves printing quality of colored
pictures a lot, expecially within dark or black
regions, because the 3 colors YCM together should
be black but they are not. (like dark grey-brown, but not
real dark black !)
From printing technology, they call this phenomenon
in Germany "Unbunt-Ausgleich", I don't know the english
word for it, but it means, that you take away about
35% of the color intensity (equally for all 3 colors)
and replace this with black color, so you get the result
which is in many magazines and newspapers known as
4-color-print !
In addition, you don't have to worry about where to
put the other cartridge !
