I have a pet peeve with procomm and it's derivatives, and that's
the fact that I don't like its keyboard mappings. Instead of
transmitting the F1 key codes of the terminal I'm emulating when
I press the F1 key, it goes into some stupid procomm menu.
Besides it costs money and mskermit's free.

:Also KERMIT 3.1.1 from the university of arizona is free and is high
:powered and free. Am told it has excellent wyse emulation.

Actually it's mskermit 3.13 from Columbia, but it is my choice
for most DOS terminal emulation where I don't absolutely need a
sco-ansi terminal emulation. It does quite a few terminal
emulation, but wyse isn't one of them. The default is an
excellent vt320. The keyboard mappings are entirely under the
user's control, and there are excellent mappings supplied for
WordPerfect, king of the function keys.

I spent some time last month working over the key mappings and
termcap (tcap) entries for MS-Word under SCO and got it to the
point where my wife liked it a lot (and she really complains if
the keyboard is significantly different from the DOS versions).

If anyone wants the modified tcap and key mapping files for this,
I'll be glad to e-mail them. I somehow forgot to save the
original /usr/lib/word/tcap file so I cannot generate a diff file
and I don't want to post the entire file because of copyright
considerations.

I also made a first cut at key definitions for Lotus 123 with
mskerm and it seems to work properly, but I won't fully test this
until my wife has to teach Lotus under Unix -- then I better get
it right :-).
