ASUS P55TP4XE w/ Intel P54C 133 Intel Endeavor w/ Intel P54C 133 Micronics M54Hi w/ Intel P54C 133 SuperMicro P55CMS w/ Intel P54C 133 Which of the above motherboard(s) would you recommend for use with the following hardware and peripherals, where total money(s) available for the mb should not exceed US$1500?...Unless of course, you want to pay the extra $$$. :-) I am willing to spend significant time "shopping around," if required. - 48MB RAM (6 X 8MB 70ns 72-PIN SIMMS) - Seagate ST5660A 527MB Enhanced-IDE HD - Seagate ST12550 2.1GB Fast SCSI-2 (2) - Plextor 4PLeX CD-ROM - Diamond Stealth 64 w/ 4MB VRAM - Sound Blaster SCSI-2 ASP w/ WaveBlaster - USR V.34 Courier modem - Microsoft Natural Keyboard - Microsoft Mouse 2.0 (serial) Take note: 1) The SIMMs are *NOT* EDO [RAM] SIMMs. They are 8MB 70ns non-parity SIMMs. 2) Current motherboard (ZEOS) holds 6 72-PIN SIMMs slots. What options do I have to avoid "tossing out" the (2) extra 8MB SIMMs. Is there any method of converting (4) 8MB SIMMs into (2) 16MB SIMMs? 3) Since this machine is being used for Win32 development-related purposes, the motherboard MUST support Windows NT Workstation 3.51. 4) I will likely purchase a third-party Fast SCSI-2 controller, but having an on-board SCSI option would be nice. Closely following compatibility and reliability, my main concern is speed...to better both compiling and debugging times. Upgradability is less of an issue in my case... All comments and suggestions either through usenet or email are greatly appreciated. Motherboard options are NOT limited to those specified above. I cannot afford to buy new EDO RAM...so existing SIMMs must be supported. Thanks, Ken
